Swiss Ice Hockey and AYCANE Join Forces to Enhance Referee Safety

The Swiss Ice Hockey Federation and AYCANE have entered into a partnership through the end of the 2027/2028 season. As the new Referee Protection Partner, AYCANE will equip approximately 100 elite referees with innovative, cut-resistant protective equipment. Together, AYCANE and the SIHF are sending a clear message in support of greater safety on the ice.
“The safety of our referees is one of our highest priorities. With AYCANE, we have gained an innovative Swiss partner that supports our officials with high-quality protective equipment. We look forward to working together,” says Martin Baumann, CEO of Swiss Ice Hockey.
Referees are constantly at the centre of the action during a game and are therefore also exposed to the risk of cut injuries. As part of the new partnership, Swiss Ice Hockey’s elite officials will be equipped with cut-resistant base layers, wrist guards and cut-resistant socks from AYCANE.
Through this partnership, Swiss Ice Hockey and AYCANE are emphasising that high safety standards are important for everyone on the ice. Accompanying communication activities will also help raise awareness of the indispensable role referees play in Swiss ice hockey.
